Nerlande Anselme

Superintendent of Rome City School District

Nerlande Anselme serves as Superintendent of Schools for the Rome City School District, assuming this leadership role in July 2023. Known for her transformative leadership style and deep passion for student success, she brings more than 20 years of educational leadership experience and has established herself as a compassionate, collaborative leader whose philosophy centers on the belief that all students can achieve, with a particular focus on dismantling barriers that often hinder student potential.

Prior to her appointment in Rome, Anselme served as the Assistant Superintendent of Student and Family Services for the Rush-Henrietta Central School District from 2013 to 2023, where she managed operations for nine schools with 5,400 students and 1,300 employees. Her responsibilities encompassed district safety, special education, mental health and wellness, English as a New Language programming, and social-emotional learning. Previously, she served as Rush-Henrietta’s Executive Director of Student and Family Services (2010-2013) and spent nine years with the Gates Chili Central School District as both a School Counselor and District Coordinator of Student Support Services. Anselme holds a Bachelor’s in Anthropology, a Master’s in College and Agency Counseling, and Certificates of Advanced Study in both School Counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh and Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.
