Johnson has served as an affiliate professor for Regis University (Regis). At Regis, Johnson wrote and developed curriculum for graduate-level students, and serves as an education law professor for the university’s graduate program.
Prior to joining Denver Public Schools and Regis, Johnson served as a middle and high school principal for Tulsa Public Schools, an elementary principal for Jefferson County Public Schools (Jeffco), an elementary and middle school teacher for Aurora Public Schools and a special education teacher for Altheimer Unified School District.
Johnson has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and a Master of Arts in Administration, Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Colorado at Denver. He completed the Public Education Leadership program at Harvard University and he is a 2019 graduate of the National Superintendent Academy.
